Percentage of secondary structure content in proteins is being widely utilized in the generation of Circular Dichroism (CD). Although CD is not only influenced by the magnitude and shape of the secondary structure. Other structural features also contribute to the entirety of Circular Dichroism spectrum.
Recently, Mavridis L.et al. (2017) have created a web based application that generates protein CD spectra from atomic coordinates. The method uses not only the percentage of secondary structure but the relative position of atoms or the atomic coordinates also. A large number (nearly 71 proteins) of spectra have been generated with high accuracy.
