With the completion of so many genome projects large sequence data is accumulating for annotation and phylogenetic analysis. Current methods involve manual intervention which reduces the throughput and increases the analysis time especially for large systematics of chloroplast.
Mc Kain et al. (2017) have developed a package for analyzing large chloroplast genomes. Their software utilizes a novel annotation anno BTD. The software developed by them called verdant accurately annotates the chloroplast genome without interfearing manually.
Verdant is available at the following URL:http://verdant.iplantcollaborative.org/plastidDB/
