Studies on transposable elements have led to development of a plethora of softwares. Abundance of these elements in the genome can be assessed using some of these tools. The problem with many of these tools is in the approaches to identify some of these transposable elements.
In a recent study Kofler R. (2018) have developed a simulation which can be used to address some of these problems. The simulation can help researchers to find the difference between the actual and the expected results.
The software has been developed in python and is available at https://sourceforge.net/projects/simulates/.
