Riboswitches are short DNA sequences of mRNA which influence gene expression by changing their conformation. Computational detection of riboswitches can help molecular biologists in studying their role in gene expression.
Thompson et al. in their recent Bioinformatics paper have created a Denison Riboswitch detector which has a web interface and can computationally predict bioswitches in DNA sequences. They have used dynamic programming algorithms to predict riboswitches in bacterial genomes.
