Clonal progeny has been very efficiently investigated using genetic barcodes. The method utilizes the gradual introduction of gene sequences which have been artificially created, into their respective genomes. The next step involves identifying and quantifying the sequences of interest using next generation sequencing technique.
Thielecke L.et.al.(2020) have designed an R package which analyzes the barcode data obtained by next generation sequencing. The package has a graphical user interface for the users who don’t have a programming background.
